Town of Brighton Police Blotter for June 24, 2010

Suspicious Incident:
On June 22, 2010, around 7:50pm, a male with dark hair and dark shirt, was driving a dark Honda Civic or Toyota when he stopped in front of the complainant's home on Chelmsford Rd. and spoke with her 6-year-old son. According to the complainant, the man (while displaying a dog chew toy) asked her son if he had seen his little black dog. The person drove off when the child's father appeared.

Burglary 2nd Degree:

On June 21, 2010, 5:54pm, three people broke into the a house on South Landing Road and stole a Charles Daly 12 gage shotgun and Belgium made 410 gage double-barrel shotgun while
ammunition. Suspect's vehicle is described as a 4-door 90's style Oldsmobile or Chevy Caprice, color blue/teal(not factory color).
Suspect #1 was described as a male black, 6 feet, medium build, dark clothes and white dew rag.
Suspect #2 was described as a male black, 6 feet, medium build, dark clothes and red dew rag.
Suspect #3 was described as a male black, 6 feet, medium build, and dark clothes.

On Jule 21, 2010, 6:22am, a black male entered a hotel room at 797 East Henrietta Road and stole cash, a credit car and a Breitling Super Avenger men's wristwatch valued at $4,500.  Hotel video shows a possible suspect walking up and down the hallways on all 4 floors checking door knobs. Video shows suspect entering the victim's room. The lock on the door was faulty.
Suspect is described as a black male, 5'10-6'2", 180 lbs, blue Yankees shirt with grey sleeves, black baseball cap, blue shorts.

Assault 2nd Arrest:

On June 21, 2010, Anthony Smouse, 27, was arrested on two counts of assault for seriously injuring two victims on June 19 while at a party on Pinnacle Hill. Smouse was committed to jail on $25,000 cash bail.

Grand Larceny 4th:

Between May 1 to June 10, 2010, The suspect stole $1700 from a elderly victim's apartment on 2500 East Avenue.
The only person to enter the apartment when some of the money disappeared was the victim's self-employed nurse, who initally denied taking the money. Once she realized that she had been caught on camera, the suspect repaid the $1700 to the victim.


On June 17, 2010, 4:30pm-7:50pm, The suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle on Westfall Road and stole a purse containing cash, credit cards, and a driver's license.


On June 16, 2010, 12:39pm, The victim placed her shopping basket on the floor in Tops on S. Clinton Avenue and walked to an adjacent aisle. When she returned less than a minute later, her wallet was missing from the basket. The wallet contained cash, credit cards, and a Massachusetts driver's license.

On June 13-14, 2010, The supect(s) entered a van on Maybrooke Road and stole a Dell Latitude laptop belonging to SUNY Albany.


Petit Larceny:

On June 11-June 14, 2010, An envelope containing cash was stolen out of a kitchen cabinet on North Landing Road.
There was no sign of forced entry to the home.

CPSP 2nd:
On May 10, 2010, The victim, of Shaftsbury Road, purchased rare collector books in the amount of $525,000 from Timothy Smith, white male, 41, of 470 E. 86th St, New York. The victim said books were reported stolen out of NYC. Smith is in custody of NYCPD.

Burglary 3rd degree:

On June 10-June 18, 2010, The suspect(s) stole a women's mountain bike from an apartment's storage locker on Lilac Dr.
