"Wambach Way" dedicated at Sahlen's Stadium
Friday morning, Pittsford native Abby Wambach was welcomed home by family and fans.
The City of Rochester and MVP Health Care welcomed the soccer star back by renaming the main walkway into Sahlen’s Stadium “Wambach Way.”
Wambach said, “I am thrilled to be associated with this stadium, which I hope will encourage a love of soccer and I hope kids, especially, will be moved to play as well as to watch."
She joined Mayor Tom Richards, MVP executives, family and fans to cut the ceremonial ribbon before heading off to practice with her teammates for Saturday’s game against Costa Rica.
