Merit Badge University held at St. John Fisher College | Schools
The Boy Scouts of America held their eighth annual Merit Badge University Sunday at St. John Fisher College.
More than 30 different badges were up for grabs -- everything from learning about plumbing to learning how to play chess.
Close to 500 scouts from six different councils and 49 troops participated -- many of them striving to become Eagle Scouts.
Merit Badge Counselor John Folwell says the turnout at the event shows how well the Rochester scouting program is doing. “To attract this number of scouts to this Merit Badge University on a Sunday afternoon here at Fisher says great things about scouting, says great things about Fisher and the Rochester program of scouting as well too."
Some of the badges are only offered at the Merit Badge University and most of the scouts will have the badges in their hand by the end of the day
